Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he spun at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed corner leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
